About the Artist
Kiki Angkratok is a Memphis-based multimedia artist and social advocate currently working in paint, fibers, and portraiture.
Her story
Utilizing acrylics, oils, and patterned paper, she examines themes of black and brown belonging, spirituality, pride, and vulnerability.
Exploring her craft after years of overcoming financial adversity, military service, career shifts, and stay-at-home motherhood, she brings an invaluable spread of life experience to her practice. Relearning how to trust the power of her talent, she has established herself as a professional artist since January 2026.
For the first time in 20 years, Kiki will showcase her work, selected as one of three unrepresented emerging artists for the 2026 River Arts Festival in Memphis.
Artist statement
"I paint intimate, spiritual black portraits to explore my identity. This practice empowers me to find my own meaning in the convergence of black presence with belonging, community, and ancestral legacy. By combining pattern, fibers, and paint, I aim to capture soft moments, leaving the viewer with a sense of the soul in infinite expresssion. Witnessing this vulnerability, may you consider how we carry our community and ourselves in our past, present, and future."
